A helpline number has been launched by the HRD Ministry for the students facing difficulties because of the COVID-19 lockdown in the country. The portal has been developed by two student interns at the All India Council of Technical Education and was launched by the HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal.
The minister while launching the portal said that it is essential to connect those who are willing to provide help to those who need it. The support includes food, online classes, accommodation, attendance, examinations, scholarships, health, transportation and harassment of any kind.
Close to 6500 colleges have come forward to provide the necessary support and the students in difficulty are encouraged to get in touch directly with them via the portal.

The helpline was launched by the MHRD Minister in the presence of AICTE chairman Professor Anil Sahasrabudhe, Vice Chairman MP Poonia, Chief Coordinating Officer Buddha Chandrashekhar and the student interns Akash and Shivanshu from Graphic era University.
The Lockdown was imposed by the government last week to stop the COVID-19 spread. However, schools and colleges were closed down way before postponing all the examinations and shutting classes for the others. With the students at home, many of the educational institutions have been trying to keep the children engaged by planning activities for them with the help of the school teachers.
The CBSE, ICSE and other state boards have postponed the class 10 and 12 board examinations. The revised schedule is expected to be released by the respective boards as soon as the lockdown is revoked.
