NEET UG 2021 Postponement: As per the recent updates, the Supreme Court Bench comprising Justice AM Khanwilkar, Justice Hrishikesh Roy and Justice CT Ravikumar was hearing a writ petition filed seeking directions for rescheduling of NEET-UG 2021 to a date after the declaration of the CBSE compartment/private/patrachar exams. On hearing the submission made by the counsel for NTA, the bench orally told the petitioner's counsel "Your grievance is other exams will commence and your result isn't declared. The relief claimed is unnecessary as authorities say you will be permitted to appear". The petitions have been adjourned to 6th September 2021 (Monday) for further hearing.

NTA To Supreme Court

The non-declaration of the results of CBSE Private, Compartment and Patrachar exams for Class XII will not prevent those students from appearing in the NEET-UG exam, the National Testing Agency told the Supreme Court on Friday. On the issue of petitioner students being unable to appear for NEET UG exam scheduled on September 12, the NTA told the Supreme Court that the non-declaration of result will not stop the students from appearing in the exam and results will only be required during the counselling.

Plea filed through Advocate Sumanth Nookala

The bench considered the petition along with another writ petition(Shashank Singh v. Union of India) which sought for directions to change the date sheet of CBSE compartment, private and patrachar exams and to declare their results early so that they won't clash with other entrance tests. The plea filed through Advocate Sumanth Nookala has sought quashing of public notice scheduling NEET UG-2021 on 12.09.2021 as being manifestly arbitrary and in violation of Article 14 of the Constitution of India. (Sanjana & Ors vs National Testing Agency & Ors).

The medical UG entrance exam is scheduled to be held on 12th September. Also, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) had written to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to raise the issue. The NSUI said NEET 2021 should be rescheduled to give a window of at least 7-14 days so that students can prepare for different exams.

Thousands of Students Sign Online Petition to Change NEET UG Exam Date

Over 1400 students have signed an online petition on change.org demanding the postponement of NEET 2021. On the other hand, the NTA has said that the exam will be held as scheduled. Signing the petition, the students said that the undergraduate medical entrance exam date is clashing with many other state and national level UG entrance exams and the CBSE private exams. To avoid this clash, and to have sufficient time in hand to prepare for the NEET-UG 2021, they are urging the government to postpone the exam to October from 12th September.

Apart from this online petition, many other online campaigns are running on social media platforms with one complaint that the date is clashing with other exams. However, despite the demands from the students and seniors, the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Union Education Ministry recently confirmed that the scheduled exam date for NEET-UG is not going to change any further and it will be held on 12th September.
