Punjab School Reopening News: As per the latest update, the Punjab State Government has allowed reopening of primary schools in the state i.e. for students of Class 1 to 5 and above, starting from 27th January 2021. The decision allowing reopening of schools for Primary Class students was taken by the Education Department on Wednesday – 20th January 2021. After reopening, students will be required to carry written consent letter from their parents in order to be allowed to attend regular classes in schools. Earlier this month, the state government had reopened schools for Upper Primary School Students i.e. Classes 5 to 12.
News Confirmed by Education Minister
The formal announcement about the reopening of primary school students i.e. for Class 1 to 5 and above, was made by State Education Minsiter Vijay Inder Singla. In an official statement issued today, Mr Singla said “Following persistent demand of parents, the state government has decided to reopen all schools for primary classes from 27th January 2021.” Initially, from 27th January, students of Class 3 and 4 will be allowed to visit school campus for regular classes followed by Class 1 and 2 students being allowed from 1st February 2021 onwards. In line with state government’s previous decision, primary schools in the state have also been allowed to open from 10 AM to 3 PM.
COVID-19 Guidelines to be Adhered
While making the announcement, Mr Singla directed officials and school managements to ensure proper cleaning of premises and follow the COVID-19 safety norms. He said detailed guidelines will be issued soon to all district education officers, which will be circulated to all government, aided and private schools. Following the reopening, students will have to carry consent from their parents in order to be allowed to visit campus to participate in regular classes.
