UP Semester Exam 2020 Decision on 2nd July: Yogi Adityanath led UP Government will take a final decision with regards to UP Semester exam 2020 for college and university students on 2nd July 2020. To ensure that all stakeholders are consulted before the decision is taken; the UP Government has formed a four member committee to look into the matter of holding the exams. UP Deputy CM Dr Dinesh Shama said that, UGC is expected to issue fresh guidelines with regards to holding of University Semester Exams 2020 on 1st July 2020. The decision regarding holding the pending semester and university exams in the state will be taken thereafter on 2nd July 2020.

4 Member Committee Appointed to Study Feasibility of Holding Exams

Earlier in the month, UP Government had appointed a 4 member expert committee to look into the matter of holding the pending semester exams for university and college students. The expert committee is headed by Meerut University Vice Chancellor A. K.Taneja along with three VCs of three other state universities. Sources close to the government have hinted that the committee has "strongly" recommended against holding examinations during the pandemic. With number of COVID-19 cases rising daily and digital divide among students making holding exams an uneven contest between students, government will have to come up with some other alternative to hold the pending semester exams for the students.

48 lakh students to appear for University Semester Exams

As per tentative estimates, around 48 lakh students across UP are to appear for the pending University and College semester exams, which have been delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic. With COVID-19 cases increasing every day in the state, many students, parents and in few universities, even teachers’ group have demanded cancellation of Semester Exams and promotion of students to next grade on the basis of internal assessment. However, now, with UGC Guidelines expected on 1st July, the final decision will be eagerly awaited by the students.
