CBSE Class 10 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme 2025: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a national level education board in our country. The Board is expected to conduct the Class 10 Board examination for the academic session 2024-25 from February 15, 2025. The time has come when students need to focus their time and energy on preparation. For this, they must be familiar with the exam pattern and marking scheme for various subjects.

CBSE Class 10 Science Exam Pattern 2025
The CBSE Class 10 Science question paper will have five sections: Section A,B,C, D and E. There will be different types of questions for students to tackle. Check the CBSE Class 10 Science Exam Pattern below.

Section A

These questions will test students’ knowledge and understanding of concepts. Students will have to choose the right answer out of four options.
Section B
1. Type: Short Answer type questions
2. Questions: 21-26
3. Marks per question: 2 marks each
In this section students’ ability to write and explain answers will be tested. Students will be required to answer the questions in a limited word count.
Section C
1. Type: Short Answer type questions
2. Questions: 27-33
3. Marks per question: 3 marks each
In Section-C, students’ ability to write and explain answers will be tested. Students will be required to answer the questions in a limited word count.
Section D
1. Type: Long Answer type questions
2. Questions: 34-36
3. Marks per question: 5 marks each
These questions demand in-depth understanding of topics. Students will have to provide elaborate responses for these questions.
Section E
1. Type: Source based/case based/passage based/integrated units of assessment
2. Questions: 37-39
3. Marks per question: 4 marks each
In this section, there will be source based/case based/passage based/integrated units of Assessment questions with sub-parts of the values of 1/2/3 marks.
Internal choice
All questions would be compulsory. However, an internal choice of approximately 33%
would be provided. 50% marks are to be allotted to competency-based questions.

Tips to Prepare for CBSE Class 10 Science Examination
1. Go through the latest syllabus only. Check and analyze the syllabus to see what you have to study for the examination. Accordingly, prepare a study plan.
2. Keep your concepts clear. Read the textbook carefully and understand the important terms and definitions. Read the content multiple times and make comprehensive notes that will help you at the time of examination.
3. Don’t forget to make notes as you study. Write the main/key points chapter wise so that it will also help you at the time of revision.
4. Solve the questions given at the end of the chapters in the textbook. Questions given in the NCERT books are always considered very important as not only do they help you to analyse your understanding of the concepts involved in a chapter but also in preparing for the examinations.
5. Solve a number of previous year question papers and give mock tests to get insights into the type and level of difficulty of questions. Solving these will help to increase the speed of students. to check your level of preparedness. Pay attention to the questions that are repeatedly asked every year.
