IIM Calcutta Summer Placements 2019: IIM-C, India's top B-schools has success fully completed the summer placement for the MBA Batch of 2019-21. The interns hired from the campus have been offered somewhere around INR 1.75 lakh per month. Although the true figures of the stipend have not be disclosed by the placement committee of IIM-C, however, the inputs related to the key recruiters at the campus and the domain-wise MBA summer placement statistics are out.
Domain-wise MBA Summer Placement Report
Overall 136 firms participated in the Summer placement drive organised by IIM-C. A total of 43.2% offers has been extended to the candidates by the Finance and Consulting firms. Top-notch brands such as Deutsche Bank, Barclays, Hexaware, and Bank of America Merrill Lynch were keen to hire candidates from the institute. Other firms such as Brookfield, Macquarie, Gaja Capital, BPEA, Edelweiss, DE Shaw, Avendus actively participated in the placement drive.
Coming over to the Banking and Finance sector, Citibank (15) and Goldman Sachs (11) were the largest recruiters on the campus. First timers recruits were NIIF, Indigrid, White Oak Capital Management among others who were eager to hire interns from IIM-C.

The consulting sector remained the second most opted domain for the candidates. Firms such as Bain, BCG, ATK, Mastercard, EY, KPMG, and McKinsey, BCG and Accenture Strategy hired interns from the premier institute. Accenture and BCG being the largest recruiters in this domain extended 19 and 17 offers respectively.
Considering the Sales & Marketing and General Management, IIM Calcutta has continued its legacy of attracting the top firms on the campus for MBA placements. Candidates received offers for the leadership roles by top conglomerates such as ABG, RPG, Godrej, RIL, Mahindra & Mahindra, and TAS among others. In addition, FMCG players such as Coca-Cola, Asian Paints, Dabur, RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, P&G, Nestle, ITC, HUL, Johnson & Johnson, AB InBev, Mondelēz extended lucrative packages and roles to the candidates. The biggest recruiter in this domain was HUL that extended 12 offers to the talented candidates.
This year domain such as Product Management, Operations and the E-commerce witnessed increase in no. of opportunities extended to the interested candidates. Overall 20% of the PGDM batch was hired by the recruiters from these domains. Brands like Amazon and Microsoft were the major recruiters with 20 and 12 interns respectively. Other firms such as Adobe, Media.Net, Salesforce, Udaan, Cloudtail, Flipkart, Uber, Ola and Oyo among others also hired interns from the campus.
New Recruiters at IIM-C Campus
This year, IIM-C added more recruiters to the already million dollar list of the placement firms that have reinstated their trust in the pedagogy and the candidates of IIM-C. The larger batch size of PGP students and the par excellence curriculum are the foundation of the institute that helps them gain and edge among the recruiters. The new recruiters grew by 13.33% on the campus. Prominent first timers who participated in the MBA summer placement drive were Puma, Emami, Cochlear, Atha Group, Valuelabs, Apparel Group among others.
On the successful completion of the summer placements, CDPO Chairperson Prof. Abhishek Goel said that the summer placement speaks volumes of our small team’s capabilities. The speed at which the institute has been able to receive 500 internship offers is phenomenal and unprecedented. The process was transparent and satisfying for both the faculty and candidates. Prof. Bodhibrata Nag, Acting Director and Dean Academic appreciated the efforts of the team and expressed that “The results indicate recruiters’ faith in brand IIMC, and our commitment to pursuing excellence in all fields of engagement.”
The Dean of IIM-C, Dr. Prashant Mishra– New Initiatives and External Relations said, “The outcome of the summer placements is testimony of the recruiters continued trust in the exceptional talent and academic excellence at IIM Calcutta. The institute community is extremely happy that our sustained efforts in making the process more student centric has yielded excellent results for the students in availing the most preferred opportunity for themselves”.
