IRMA Placement 2018 season has finally come to an end with the report exhibit several positive signs including 100% placement, with almost every student getting placed with a reputed government or private organization. Being a reputed B-school, especially when it comes to rural management, the IRMA placement report also shows a significant rise in the average salary for its 2016-18 batch.

The current placement session which was held from 12th February to 17th February at IRMA campus was for the 37th batch of PGDRM programme i.e. Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management. The IRMA placement 2018 recorded 100% placements in 6 days, which is in-line with the impeccable placement track-record that the B-school has maintained since its inception in 1979. During the current placement season a total of 170 students from the flagship, two-year PGDRM programme received placement offers.

Placement Trends & Analysis

IRMA 2018 Placement is a benchmark as far as the domain of rural management in India is concerned. The placement trends which are seen at IRMA are generally the same ones that are seen across the country in this field. Therefore, it is very important for MBA aspirants and students who are serious about joining the rural management sector must keep a close eye on the IRMA placement trends and analysis.

Average Salary Rises

One of the key trends that have continued at IRMA Placement 2018 is the rise in the average salary being offered to the students. The average general salary for IRMA PGDRM batch of 2016-2018 rose upto Rs 11.39 lakhs as compared to Rs 10.22 lakh last year. On a similar note, the average salary offered by private sector also saw significant jump from Rs.12.17 lakhs from Rs. 10.57 lakhs last year. As far as Government and NGOs or non-profit organizations are concerned, the average salary stood at Rs 9.42 lakh as against Rs. 9.37 lakhs in 2017.

Along with the average salary, the median salary has also seen a significant rise during the IRMA placement season 2018.

Number of PPOs rises

In line with the other top B-schools in India, even IRMA saw rise in the number of PPOs or Pre-Placement Offers being made to the students. This year 18 PPOs were extended to the IRMA students by the recruiters. The rise in the number of PPOs being offered to the students shows the trust and belief that is invested by the recruiters in the quality of management education on offer at IRMA.

Highest Salary @ IRMA Placements

The most interesting highlight of IRMA 2018 MBA placement was that highest salary recorded at the placement session. The PGDRM batch of 2016-18 drew the highest salary of Rs 46.50 lakh. On the other hand, the lowest package handed over to an IRMA student this year stands at Rs. 3.5 lakh. In fact, the student who has got the lowest package during IRMA placement 2018 consciously chose to associate with a grass-root level NGO at a much lower package with the intention to mark a difference in lives of people.

Recruiters vs. number of Offers

The key highlight of IRMA Placement 2018 is the substantial rise in the number overall job offers made to the students, as compared to last year. This year, a total of 315 offers were extended to the students by 114 recruiters. The rise in the number of offers suggests improvement in the  engagement of business as well as development sector organizations in rural arena.

Top Recruiters

  • Cooperatives / Producers Collectives: The dairy major AMUL or the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation emerged as the top recruiter during the IRMA 2018 placement process. AMUL hired a total of 16 students from IRMA 2016-18 batch. Taking a cue from AMUL, in total, Cooperatives or Producers Collectives hired a total of 30 students from IRMA’s outgoing batch.
  • Agri-Business Multinationals: Another major category of recruiters at IRMA’s placement sessions was Agri-Business majors which include Tolaram, Afriventures, Cummins, Cargill, ITC, Zuari, Mars International, ADM, Godrej Agro, Kancor, Mapro, and others.
  • Banking & Finance Firms: As far as corporate roles are concerned, firms such as KPMG, ICICI bank, IndusInd, IDFC bank, Fullerton, Tata AIG, Bharati AXA and Reliance.
  • Consulting Firms: KPMG was the major firm who hired candidates in the consulting firm.
  • Government & NGOs: BAIF Development Research Foundation, Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society - JEEVIKA, Kudumbashree, Livolink Foundation (An Associate Organization of Tata Trust), Madhya Pradesh Shyama Prasad Mukherji - RURBAN Mission, Madhya Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (MPSRLM), National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), Swaniti Initiative, and URMUL Trust.
