As per the latest reports and the tender released by the commission, it intends to incorporate Aadhaar-based fingerprint authentication (or digital fingerprint capturing) and facial recognition of candidates, scanning of the QR code of e-Admit Cards, and monitoring through live AI-based CCTV video surveillance to prevent cheating, fraud, and unfair means .
Commission has invited bids from experienced PSUs through the CPP portal to provide the services during the examination process conducted by the UPSC. The services that needs to be are listed below
- Aadhaar-based Fingerprint Authentication (or Digital Fingerprint Capturing) and Facial Recognition of Candidates, along with QR Code Scanning of e-Admit Cards
- Live AI-based CCTV surveillance service
Aadhaar based fingerprint authentication will help the UPSC cross check and match the biometric details of candidates. This will allow the UPSC to verify the identities of candidates appearing in the examination. The process will include either direct fingerprint capture or getting the fingerprint data already stored in Aadhaar database
Face recognition technology will act as an added layer of security. By capturing facial features, UPSC aims to eliminate any chances of identity fraud. Together with fingerprint authentication, this technology will offer a strong verification system.
Another significant feature of this new system is the reading of QR codes on e-Admit Cards. This approach will speed up the verification process at examination centres. Candidates' e-Admit Cards will include QR codes, that can be rapidly scanned to get to and verify their information. This method will not only speed up the check-in process, but also reduce the probability of mistakes and forged documents.
To enhance the overall monitoring of examination centres, the UPSC plans to implement live AI-based CCTV video surveillance. This system will allow real-time monitoring of candidates' activities during the exams. The AI technology will be capable of identifying suspicious behaviours and alerting invigilators promptly. Such a surveillance system is expected to act as a strong deterrent against cheating and other unfair practices.
UPSC’s plan to revamp its examination system through inclusion of advanced digital technologies such as Aadhaar-based fingerprint authentication, facial recognition, QR code scanning, and AI-based CCTV surveillance will help revolutionise the way examinations are conducted which ensures security, transparency and efficiency
