Key Changes For CBSE Exams 2025

  • Reduction in short and long response questions

CBSE board is more likely to reduce the number of constructed response questions—short and long-answer questions for both classes 10th and 12th. The goal is to encourage the students with their proper knowledge of the subject.

  • Focusing on Competency-Based Questions

Competency-based questions are designed to evaluate the theoretical knowledge of the students that they can apply to real-world situations. These questions will form a larger portion of the Class 12 board exams in 2025

  • Increased weightage of internal assessment

Internal assessment will now carry 40% of the total marks. The remaining 60% will be based on final board exams. Internal assessment includes the projects, tests and assignments.

  • 75% attendance is mandatory

Students must maintain a minimum attendance of 75% if they need to qualify for the 2025 board exams.

  • Special provisions for athletes and Olympiad participants

CBSE will conduct special examinations for the students participating in national or international sports events or recognised Olympiads. If the exams of these students will clash on these dates, they can avail themselves of this facility.

  • Enhanced Security Measures

The CBSE Board also plans to implement biometric authentication before and after the exams along with digital fingerprinting, photo capturing, and face matching of candidates appearing for the exam.
