Pondicherry Schools have been reopened for the students from class 1 to 12. According to reports, the schools in the Puducherry and Karaikal regions will be functional for the full day according to the regular school timings from Monday to Saturday. It must also be noted that the consent of parents is required for students to attend the offline classes.
The decision to reopen the schools for the full day was taken by the Director of School education, T Rudra Goud. The schools have been shut since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown
Regular Six Days working
Pondicherry schools have reopened for the students from class 1 to 12 and will be operating six days a week following the regular daily schedule. The schools reopening are also required to follow the COVID-19 guidelines issued by the state and central government. Students attending classes are required to wear face masks at all times and maintain social distancing and regular sanitization of the school premises.
Lieutenant Governor Tamilisai Sounsararajan also visited the schools which have reopened in Puducherry for restarting the breakfast and noon meal schemes. The governor restarted the breakfast scheme in Thiruvalluvar Government Girls Higher Secondary School and the Savurirayulu Naicker Government Primary School on March 1, 2021.
Class 10 and 12 Classes
The government has also allowed the students from classes 10 and 12 to attend classes for clearing doubts considering the academic losses incurred due to the pandemic. The decision for reopening the schools for classes 10 and 12 was taken considering the upcoming board examinations.
Colleges in Puducherry have also reopened for the final year students from Arts and science Batch. The colleges in Puducherry reopened for the students from December 17, 2020.
