Shillong Colleges and Universities to be Closed until May 3, Check details here

 Schools and Colleges in Meghalaya’s Shillong except those functioning as exam centres will remain closed until May 3, 2021. The announcement was made by the state chief minister considering the safety of the students.

Meghalaya Schools Collegs closed

Schools Colleges Closed in Shillong: Schools and Colleges in Meghalaya’s Shillong except those functioning as exam centres will remain closed until May 3, 2021. The announcement was made by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma who stated that the colleges and universities in Shillong will be closed except for those institutions functioning as exam centres. 

The Meghalaya State government had earlier announced that the class 12 board exams will be conducted as per schedule for the students from April 16 to May 12, 2021. Meghalaya Chief Minister stated that after conducting a review of the COVID-19 situation in the state, the government has decided that the Meghalaya Board class 12 board examinations will be conducted as per schedule. The state health department has been instructed to intensify its efforts to execute the vaccination drive and also increase the number of vaccination centres in the state.

Measures are taken to curb the spread of COVID-19

With the increasing COVID-19 cases across the country, the state governments have been working on measures to curb the spread of the disease, especially among students by shutting down classes and announcing early summer vacations for the students. 

While the summer vacations have been announced for the lower classes, the state governments have postponed the class 10 and 12 board examinations for the students. 

Examination Cancelled

A few of the states have also decided to cancel the class 10 exams including Maharashtra and the CBSE while the class 12 exams have been postponed until further notice.

Schools have also been directed to jump back to the older online mode of education for the new academic year until the cases in the country decreased and the situation is brought back to normal.
