West Bengal UG Admission 2021: As per the latest updates, there will no admission test in West Bengal for undergraduate (UG) admission. According to the reports, the state Education Minister Bratya Basu, in a meeting with Vice Chancellors of state universities, mentioned that admission of students will be based on the marks obtained in the board exam. Apart from the admission test, no interviews will also be conducted for admission to UG colleges.
Colleges to Start Classes
To begin the first semester by 1st October, universities are advised to open the application windows for students as soon as board exam results are out. It has been informed that the admissions should be completed by 30th September. Students will not be required to pay admission fees similar to last year.
Rationalization of Seats
To rationalize seats in colleges, Vice-Chancellors of universities have been told to hold virtual meetings. The meetings will be conducted by principles and inspectors of colleges with the purpose of rationalization of seats. Several state universities such as Presidency University, Jadavpur University, conduct admission tests for undergraduate entry-level.
Universities Going Ahead with Admission Test
This year many universities considered of taking admission tests as a way to screen candidates. This was done due to the cancellation of board exams due to COVID-19. However, St Xaviers University, Kolkata will be going ahead with admission tests since it is an autonomous institution and not bound by the rules of the state-run institutions.
University's Admission Criteria
Jadavpur University admission committee will be meeting its respective faculties to discuss the admission criteria for Undergraduate level entry. Presidency University, which had scheduled its entrance test for August is now waiting for the decision of the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) which conducts the entrance examination.

As per the reports, the admit cards for West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam, (WBJEE) 2021 is likely to be released soon. The admit card will release on the official website - wbjee.nic.in. The exam is scheduled to be conducted on 17th July 2021. WBJEE is conducted in offline mode amidst the pandemic. Officials have mandated that everyone appearing for the exam in the state have to follow the COVID-19 protocols. Candidates are also expected to follow all COVID-19 related guidelines to ensure the safety of all.
