The Punjab Government has launched a strong and positive social campaign against drugs by encouraging youth to participate in sports. Under “Rangla Punjab” and “Yudh Nashian Virudh,” the construction of 3,100 state-of-the-art stadiums is underway across the state. This massive project, costing ₹1,194 crore, is becoming a strong pillar of Punjab’s new youth policy and social awareness movement.
In the first phase, large villages are being given priority, where multi-purpose sports complexes are being developed. These stadiums will have major sports facilities such as volleyball, football, athletics, kabaddi, and cricket. In addition, open gyms, jogging tracks, and yoga zones for women and senior citizens are also being built so that the entire community can use these complexes.
The government believes that sports are the best way to keep youth away from drugs and give them a positive direction. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in his many statements put it aptly by saying, "Where there are playgrounds, drugs will not exist." It is basically his concept that is the dominating force behind the undertaking.
These arenas will not only be the vehicles to nurture the sporting skills but will also be the venues for social unity and rural growth. Organizing local competitions, the youth athletes will become known and it will be easier for them to have access to national and international levels.
The plan to erect 3,100 stadiums is merely not a building venture—it is an epochal move to make Punjab's youth safe, healthy, and full of life. This project is turning sports into a mass movement, which is effectively pushing drug abuse away.
