Varanasi Schools Closed Until February 8 Due to Maha Kumbh Mela: The Varanasi district administration has announced that all urban schools will remain closed until February 8, 2025, due to significant traffic congestion caused by many pilgrims attending the Maha Kumbh Mela. This measure aims to ensure the safety and well-being of students.

Online Learning for Urban Students

During this period, students from Classes 1 to 8 in government, council, and aided schools, as well as those in English and Hindi medium schools affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, and other boards in urban areas, will continue their education through online classes. This approach ensures that learning remains uninterrupted despite the closures.

Rural Schools to Operate Normally

Schools located in rural areas of the Varanasi district will continue to function as usual, with regular physical attendance. The transportation challenges primarily affect urban zones, allowing rural institutions to maintain their standard schedules.

Staff Responsibilities During Closure

Principals and staff members of council-aided schools are required to report to their respective campuses during this period. Their duties include handling administrative tasks like processing Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT) and Aapaar ID seeding, ensuring that essential operations continue smoothly.

The district administration urges all students, parents, and school staff to stay informed through official channels for any further updates. These measures are in place to prioritise the safety and education of students during the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela.
