JEE Main 2024 Paper 1 and Paper 2: The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) started in 2013 is the most famous and highly targeted entrance exam all over India. It has surpassed almost all the other engineering entrance exams in terms of registered candidates. It gives a huge competition to students to get into the top engineering programmes at prestigious institutes. Since 2019, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has been conducting the JEE Main examination twice a year to give more opportunities to students, making this exam a fair chance for all, it also reduces the burden on the exam centres.
In the year 2024, the first attempt was conducted from January to February. The second attempt was scheduled from April 4 to 15. To check the detailed analysis of JEE Main Session 1, 2024 check, Which are the Toughest Shift for Session 1 Exam?

JEE Main 2024 Marking Scheme
In the JEE Main exam, scoring is based on a specific set of rules. Correct answers are awarded 4 points each, while incorrect responses result in a deduction of 1 point. However, if you choose not to answer a question, neither points are added nor subtracted from your total score. It's important to note that marking multiple answers to a single question is considered incorrect, leading to a deduction of 1 point. Therefore, candidates must carefully consider each response to maximise their score while minimising penalties for incorrect answers.
Aspect | Details |
Marking for Correct Answer | +4 marks |
Marking for Incorrect Answer | -1 mark |
Marking for Unattempted Questions | No marks awarded |
Question Types | * Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with one correct answer * Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with multiple correct answers (exact weightage for these might be specified later) * Numerical based questions (no negative marking) |
