Nirahua entered politics by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Lucknow on March 27, 2019, in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. On April 3, 2019, he was announced as the BJP candidate for the Azamgarh constituency in the 2019 Indian Lok Sabha elections. He contested against Akhilesh Yadav, the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, but lost by 259,874 votes.
