CMAT 2021 Selection Procedure will be announced as part of the official notification for the MBA entrance exam. The NTA CMAT 2021 exam is a national level screening test for MBA aspirants. However, when it comes to admission to respective B-schools, the institute are given the authority to decide their own selection process and criteria. Simply put, only those candidates who qualify the CMAT 2021 Cutoff mark will be eligible to participate in the CMAT selection procedure conducted by the respective MBA Colleges.
CMAT 2021 – Selection Criteria
As mentioned above, the CMAT 2021 selection criteria varies from one B-school to another depending upon the competition and the CMAT cut-off announced by the MBA College. However, B-schools conduct three key rounds as part of the CMAT selection procedure to screen students for admission to MBA programmes. These include:

CMAT 2021 – Group Discussion Round
The CMAT 2021 selection procedure for the majority of B-schools will begin with a group discussion rounds. During the Group Discussion, candidates will be divided into groups of 7 to 10 candidates and will be given a discussion topic. The topics provided for Group Discussion are diverse in nature and range from different fields such as current affairs, politics, sports, economics, social events and others.
The observers judge a performance of the candidate in a Group discussion round on the basis of the following skills:
- Personality
- Communication skills
- Leadership
- Negotiation Skills
- Managerial Skills
CMAT 2021 – Personal Interview Round
CMAT 2021 Selection Procedure will also have a personal interview round. The Personal Interview Round will involve candidates being interviewed by a panel of 3-4 senior interviewers. The round is aimed at understanding candidates’ attitude, interest and future aspirations as a manager. In addition to this, the panel also tries to understand the academic and personal life journey of the candidates to understand if they are the right cultural fit for the b-school.
Personal Interview round is judged on the basis of the following factors:
- Communication Skills
- Personality
- Confidence
- Past Academic Records
CMAT 2021 – Written Ability Test
Although not common, many B-schools also conduct the Written Ability Test as part of the CMAT selection procedure to screen the students. During the WAT round, candidates are provided a topic on which they have to write an essay. Generally, the topic of the WAT Round is taken from contemporary happenings around us.
The examiners will judge the performance of a candidate in a WAT round on the basis of the following skills:
- Language Skills
- Grammar Skills
- Writing Ability
- Vocabulary
- Clarity of Thought
- Expression
CMAT 2021 – Final Selection
The final selection for admission to MBA programmes offered by the MBA colleges accepting CMAT score will depend upon a combination of factors. These include the candidates’ performance in CMAT exam as well as the further screening rounds mentioned above. The weightage allotted to the CMAT 2021 Score and the further screening rounds is also decided by the respective B-schools.
CMAT 2021 – Document Required for Admission
The CMAT score for MBA admission is accepted by over 1000+ B-schools across India. After the completion of the CMAT exam and the further screening rounds, candidates have to go through the document verification process. The process involves counselling of candidates for selection of course and seat allocation as per the availability. Candidates have to produce the following documents at the time admission:
- CMAT 2021 Scorecard / Result
- CMAT 2021 Admit Card
- Student Category Certificate (If Applicable)
- Domicile Certificate
- Birth Certificate
- Matriculation / Class 10 Marksheet - Certificate
- Intermediate / Class 12 Marksheet - Certificate
- Graduation Marksheet / Degree Certificate
- Photocopies of all the certificate
- Six recent colored Photographs
- Identity Proof (Aadhar Card, Voter ID, License, Passport)
Failing to produce any of the above asked certificates during counselling or MBA Admission process might lead to cancellation of the seat allotted to the candidate.
