CMAT 2017: Exam Analysis; GK section tricky

    CMAT Exam was held on 28 January 2017 at various test centers in India. The exam was conducted successfully and was held for 180 minutes (3hrs duration) in hand. The exam was conducted in computerized format and asked 100 questions from the aspirants to test their aptitude. Each section comprised of 25 questions (i.e. Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, and General Awareness).

    As per the expectations of the test-takers, the difficulty level of the exam was easy apart from a few questions. Exam takers mentioned that General Awareness section was comparatively tricky to answer.

    General Awareness Section

    The difficulty level of this section was high as the questions were from both current and static gk section. Questions related to current happenings such as Demonetization, Digital India initiatives, pradha mantra yojnas were asked. Students who were well updated with the current affairs would find this section easy to tackle.

    In this section, the level of difficulty was easy and approximately 4-5 questions were difficult to solve.

    Overall the Quantitative aptitude section was easy to solve and did not consume much time. So students were able to devote time to other sections as well.

    Logical Reasoning Section

    The overall difficulty level of this section was ‘Moderate’. Exam takers mentioned that this section consumed a lot of time and effort of their part. The questions in this section were comparatively difficult to Quantitative aptitude section.

    Language Comprehension Section

    The difficulty level of this section was ‘Easy’. Aspirants were asked 15 questions from 4 reading comprehensions (RCs). The RCs were given on various topics (such as politics, Indian cinema, and technology). Approximately 10 questions were from other sections such as vocabulary; grammar; fill in the blanks, statements.  

    Overall CMAT 2017 exam was easier than other management entrance exams such as CAT and XAT. But a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer could make it difficult to score a high percentile for those aspirants who have attempted questions with uncertainty.
