Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) popularly known as CMAT is a national level management entrance test . Till 2018, CMAT was conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), but 2019 onwards, the entrance test will be held by National Testing Agency (NTA). This means CMAT will no longer be conducted by AICTE but by NTA.

CMAT 2017 Exam Analysis – Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) popularly known as CMAT is a national level management entrance test . Till 2018, CMAT was conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), but 2019 onwards, the entrance test will be held by National Testing Agency (NTA). This means CMAT will no longer be conducted by AICTE but by NTA. CMAT is a computer-based test that is to be completed in three hours duration. The main objective behind CMAT 2017 exam analysis was to reveal whether the exam was easy, were there any technical glitches or any surprise elements.

CMAT Exam Analysis 2017

The analysis of CMAT exam is done right after the exam is conducted. CMAT 2017 was held on January 28, 2017. The entrance test was conducted across various test centres across India. The CMAT 2017 exam had 100 questions that were to be completed in given time. According to the CMAT 2017 exam analysis, the exam contained four sections namely, Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness. Each section comprised of 25 questions each. Overall the CMAT 2017 exam was easy and as expected.  

As per the expectations of the test-takers, the difficulty level of the exam was easy apart from a few questions. Test takers mentioned General Awareness section was comparatively tricky to answer.

General Awareness Section

The difficulty level of this section was high as the questions were from both current and static gk section. Questions related to current happenings such as Demonetization, Digital India initiatives, pradha mantra yojnas were asked. Students who were well updated with the current affairs would find this section easy to tackle.

According to the CMAT 2017 exam analysis, in this section, the level of difficulty was easy and approximately 4-5 questions were difficult to solve.

Overall the Quantitative aptitude section was easy to solve and did not consume much time. Therefore, students were able to devote time to other sections as well.

Logical Reasoning Section

The overall difficulty level of this section was ‘Moderate’. Exam takers mentioned that this section consumed a lot of time and effort of their part. The questions in this section were comparatively difficult to the Quantitative aptitude section.

As per the analysis of CMAT exam, the difficulty level of this section was ‘Easy’. Aspirants were asked 15 questions from 4 reading comprehensions (RCs). The RCs were given on various topics (such as politics, Indian cinema, and technology). Approximately 10 questions were from other sections such as vocabulary; grammar; fill in the blanks and statements.  

Overall CMAT 2017 exam was easier than other management entrance exams such as CAT and XAT. But a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer made it difficult to score a high percentile for those aspirants who attempted questions with uncertainty.
