How To Calculate The CGPA of CBSE Class 10, 12 Result 2025?
CBSE Board will declare the CBSE Class 10th, 12th Results in GPA assessment format. The board follows this practice to avoid unhealthy competition and to reduce stressful situations. The results will be declared in CGPA scores as well as with performing relative grades.
Students who want to accurately convert their CGPA to percentage can use the following formula: CGPA × 9.5. For example, suppose your CGPA is 7.3, multiplying it by 9.5 will give 69.35 or 69% (7.3 × 9.5 = 69.35).
CBSE Exam 2025 Grading System
CBSE introduced the 'Relative Grading' system in the academic year 2024-25, introducing new method of grading criteria for students in the view of decresing stress and competition among students.
The ‘Relative Grading’ indicates that the grades are not determined on the marks range i.e. 91 to 100, 81 to 90 etc. but on the basis of the group, the candidates fall into on the relative merit of the candidates. The grades vary from subject to subject based on the number of candidates passing the subject. For awarding grades, all the passed students are put in a rank order divided into 8 equal groups and are awarded grades as follows:
Grade |
Description |
A-1 |
Top 1/8th of the passed candidates |
A-2 |
Next 1/8th of the passed candidates |
B-1 |
Next 1/8th of the passed candidates |
B-2 |
Next 1/8th of the passed candidates |
C-1 |
Next 1/8th of the passed candidates |

D-1 |
Next 1/8th of the passed candidates |
D-2 |
Next 1/8th of the passed candidates |
E |
Essential Repeat |
For example: Economics has 383647 students enrolled, therefore we can understand the grading system taking this example:
Grades |
Number of candidates passing ECONOMICS = 383647 |
A1 |
383647× ⅛ = 47955.87 Top 47956 candidates will get Grade A1 |
A2 |
Next 47956 candidates will get Grade A2 |
B1 |
Next 47956 candidates will get Grade B1 |
B2 |
Next 47956 candidates will get Grade B2 |
C1 |
Next 47956 candidates will get Grade C1 |
C2 |
Next 47956 candidates will get Grade C2 |
D1 |
Next 47956 candidates will get Grade D1 |
D2 |
Next 47956 candidates will get Grade D2 |
In the ‘Relative Grading’ system adopted by the Board, a candidate obtaining identical marks in any two subjects may not get the same grade in those two subjects. The grades will be different based on the number of candidates passing the subject and their relative scores.
