SSC CGL 2017 Tier-IV: New Exam Pattern for Data Entry Speed Test (DEST)

In this article, we are going to provide you the New Exam Pattern of SSC CGL 2017 Tier-IV Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) in detail including the typing speed, time duration and latest changes announced by SSC.

SSC will soon be conducting Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2017 Tier-IV Exam. This Exam comprises of a couple of skill tests which are required for certain government posts and document verification procedure like DEST (Data Entry Speed Test) and CPT (Computer Proficiency Test). DEST is of qualifying nature and is mainly conducted to check the typing speed of the candidates. As per the latest notification released by SSC, there will be a slight change in the exam pattern of SSC CGL Tier-IV DEST Exam for Visually Handicapped (VH) candidates.

New Exam Pattern for SSC CGL Tier-IV Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) 2017 Exam

Below is the new Exam Pattern for SSC CGL Tier-IV Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) Exam:

Data Entry Speed Test for the post of Tax Assistants

Speed for Tax Assistants (Central Excise & Income Tax)

8,000 (eight thousand) Key Depression per hour on Computer

For all candidates other than PwD Candidates

2000 (two thousand) key depressions for a duration of 15 (fifteen) minutes

Visually Handicapped Candidates (VH) - NEW

2000 (two thousand) key depressions for a duration of 20 (Twenty) minutes

Hearing Handicapped Candidates (HH)

2000 (two thousand) key depressions for a duration of 15 (fifteen) minutes

Orthopedically Handicapped (OH) candidates

Tax Assistant in CBDT are exempted for appearing in Skill TesT

Tax Assistant in CBEC - 2000 (two thousand) key depressions for a duration of 15 (fifteen) minutes

Note: Visually Handicapped Candidates (VH) who have opted for scribes in the written examination will be provided passage reader during the time of Skill Test.

Earlier SSC did not notify that how much extra time would be provided to Visually Handicapped (VH) Candidates during Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) of SSC CGL 2017 Tier-IV Exam. It only stated that VH candidates will be provided compensatory time in DEST at par with typing speed. Now, in the recent notification, SSC has clarified that it will provide additional compensatory time of 5 minutes in DEST to VH Candidates.

SSC CGL Tier-IV Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) 2017 Exam

Another skill test conducted by SSC during CGL 2017 Tier-IV is the Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) for the posts - Assistant Section Officer of Central Secretariat Service (CSS), Assistant Section Officer (MEA), Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Assistant (GSI) in the Ministry of Mines. This Exam is of qualifying nature. For Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates, no exemption has been given by SSC for Computer Proficiency Test (CPT).
