    The clock is ticking as the New Year is on its way! Start your New Year on a positive note by doing exceptionally well in the upcoming XAT exam, which is going to be held on 7th Jan 2018. The good news is that there will be no major changes either in the test pattern or in the number of questions in XAT exam 2018, and it will be more or less of the same type as compared to the last year’s paper. This news was confirmed by the reliable sources of XLRI team. Therefore, simply relax and carry on with your preparation as this year’s paper will not be a shocker at all.     Some important changes in the exam pattern that you must know

    It is to note that XLRI team has confirmed about no such major changes in the XAT exam pattern this year, however, minor changes in the level of question paper can be expected. This change nevertheless will not be challenging in a big way. There will be change in the format of the exam; however, the type of question may change a little as compared to last year’s paper. Therefore, you don’t need to experiment too much with your preparation, but, make sure to be ready to adapt with the minor changes.

    Importantly, there will be no change in the number of sections in the XAT exam 2018 as confirmed by XAT exam convener. Therefore, aspirants who are willing to take admission in top B-schools accepting XAT score should not worry about the changes in the exam format, and must carry their preparation without doing any experiments at all. The only change this year is that the XAT exam will be Online computer based.

    XAT 2018 exam structure

    The XAT 2018 exam paper is divided into four sections with multiple choice questions. The sections are Decision Making, Verbal & Logical Ability, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation and General Knowledge. Another section is dedicated to subjective essay writing test. Please note that the marks of essay writing and general knowledge will not be included in finalizing the percentile and cut off at the initial (1st) stage of selection. The duration of the test will be of 3 and half hours, starting from 10:00 AM to 01:35PM.

    Number of questions & duration of XAT 2018

    The total time duration of XAT 2018 exam is of three and half hours. The Objective type (MCQs) part 1 with 3 sections will be over in 170 minutes and the next 35 minutes will be given for the GK and Essay writing.

    Markings in XAT 2018

    In XAT 2018 paper, one mark will be awarded for every correct answer, and one fourth of a mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. It is important to note that there will be a deduction of 0.05 mark per question if a test taker leaves more than 12 questions unanswered in XAT 2018 question paper. The difficulty level of XAT 2018 will be moderate as it is expected that the question paper will be designed with certain precautions this year.

    Key Changes in XAT 2018 Exam: Few points to remember

    • XAT 2018 Paper is divided in 2 parts. Part 1 will include 3 sections, and part 2 will comprise 2 sections of GK and Essay writing 1 topic.
    • Time allotted for part 1 is 170 minutes and that for part 2 is 35 minutes
    • The marks obtained in essay writing and GK in XAT 2018 will only be considered at the time of final selection of candidates and not for the initial shortlisting for GD/interview
