CLAT Syllabus 2025 has been released by the Consortium of NLUs on its website which is consortiumofnlus.ac.in. As the exam is approaching on December 1, 2024, hence, the candidates are advised to go through the latest syllabus to know if they have completed all the subjects or not. The syllabus is composed of namely five sections that include Current Affairs including General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, English, and Quantitative Techniques. CLAT Syllabus 2025

The Consortium of National Law Universities released the CLAT syllabus 2025 which is consortiumofnlus.ac.in for the undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Candidates keen on appearing for the CLAT 2025 exam must check out the latest syllabus that consists of the subject wise topics that are asked in the exam.  

CLAT 2025 Syllabus consists of five sections; i.e. English Language, Legal Reasoning, Current Affairs including General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Techniques. The syllabus has been formulated into such a manner that the candidate's aptitude and skills can be tested that are necessary for legal education. Candidates should be prepared in such a manner that they can answer the basic questions that require not much preparation. No changes have been made to CLAT syllabus.

What are the subjects for CLAT Syllabus?

CLAT exam focuses to evaluate the candidate’s comprehension and reasoning skills and abilities. It is an all-India test that is designed to test the candidate’s aptitude and skills for which not much prior knowledge is required for legal education. However, candidates must be aware of the latest current affairs and general knowledge that will be a part of the CLAT syllabus. The five subjects which are included in CLAT exam are as follows: 

  • English Language
  • Current Affairs, including General Knowledge
  • Legal Reasoning
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Quantitative Techniques

Who releases CLAT Syllabus?

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLU’S) publishes the CLAT syllabus for Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses on its official website which is consortiumofnlus.ac.in/. The Consortium was established on August 19th, 2017 to improve the standards of legal education in the country and serve justice through legal education. A total of 22 NLU’s have joined the Consortium as members as on June 20, 2023. 

Any candidate who aspires to get an undergraduate or postgraduate degree from any of the NLUs must ensure that they go through the detailed CLAT syllabus to succeed in the exam. 

CLAT Syllabus 2025: Subject Wise Weightage

The CLAT syllabus 2025 consists of five sections in total. Each section is divided into English Language, Current Affairs Including General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques. There shall be 120 questions that will be divided among these five sections. The CLAT UG syllabus distribution is given in the table below.

CLAT Syllabus: English Language

CLAT English Language syllabus consists of comprehension passage-based questions of about 450 words of 12th standard. Candidates will be required to draw inferences and conclusions based on the passage. Other than this, candidates are also required to compare and contrast viewpoints set in the passage and understand the meaning of various words and phrases used in the passage. CLAT Syllabus: Currents Affairs including General Knowledge

The current affairs syllabus for CLAT will have passages of around 450 words each from news, journalistic and non-fiction writings. The questions might include an exam of legal information or knowledge discussed in or related to the passage. However, candidates will not need any additional knowledge of the law beyond the passage. - Intended to test your depth of understanding of issues and events of significance, rather than mere fact or trivia-based knowledge of such issues and events.

- Questions will focus on current events and some questions will be of historical significance.

CLAT Syllabus: Quantitative Technique

The quantitative Technique syllabus of CLAT exam consists of facts, propositions, graphs, textual, pictorial or diagrammatic representations of numerical information followed by a series of questions. The questions will require candidates to device, infer and manipulate numerical information based on passages, graphs, or other representations. All the questions will be based on class 10th on chapters such as ratios and proportions, basic algebra, mensuration and statistical estimation. CLAT Syllabus: Legal Reasoning

CLAT Legal Reasoning syllabus will have passages of around 450 words each. The passage will be related to situations that will be involved in legal matters, public policy, moral philosophical enquiries, etc. Candidates will not require prior knowledge of the law to answer those. Candidates will rather benefit from general awareness of contemporary legal and moral issues to better apply general principles or propositions to the given fact scenarios.   • Apply such rules and principles to various fact situations; and
  • Understand how changes to the rules or principles may alter their application to various fact situations.

- the candidate has to find the facts and applicable rules. 

- The purpose is not to test the knowledge of law but the application of rules to a factual context based on the constraints presented to you.

CLAT Syllabus: Logical Reasoning

The Logical Reasoning syllabus of CLAT exam shall have passages of around 300 words. Each passage will have questions that will require you to recognise an argument, its premises and conclusions.
