XAT 2020 Exam Syllabus- The syllabus of XAT 2020 exam is crucial for any test taker who wants to crack the XAT exam. XLRI Jamshedpur does not officially release the XAT exam syllabus, therefore an estimated XAT 2020 syllabus has been provided here for XAT exam aspirants. According to the XAT 2020 syllabus, the exam is divided into four sections namely Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation, Verbal & Logical Reasoning, Decision Making, General Knowledge and Essay Writing. With just few weeks left for the XAT 2020 exam, candidates are advised to make the most of their preparation. XAT 2020 will be held on January 5th 2020 and the XAT 2020 admit card will be available anytime soon from today onwards.

Here in this article, we bring to you a comprehensive XAT 2020 exam syllabus considering previous year's trend. Candidates are recommended to go through the XAT syllabus for reference purpose.

XAT 2020 Syllabus

After thorough analysis of the XAT exam papers and the type of questions being asked in those, experts have created a basic syllabus for the exam. Moreover, the XAT exam syllabus also heavily depends upon the exam pattern and style. Currently, the XAT MBA entrance test patter is as follows:

The XAT 2020 exam syllabus would consist of five key sections i.e. Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, Verbal and logical reasoning, decision making, general knowledge and essay writing. The exam would consist of questions from all the five sections and therefore, understanding of XAT exam pattern and XAT exam syllabus is pivotal when it comes to cracking the test.

XAT Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation

Quant and DI together form the key section through which XAT aspirants can score good marks in the MBA entrance test. Syllabus or topics covered under this section include:

  • Arithmetic: Equations, Time & Distance, Percentage, Time & Work, Profit & Loss, etc.
  • Algebra / Pure Math: Polynomials, Probability, Trigonometry, Numbers, Geometry, Venn Diagram, Progressions, Mensuration, Miscellaneous, Permutation & Combination, Functions & Graphs, etc.
  • Data Interpretation: Data Sufficiency, Bar Charts, Scatter Plots, Table, etc.

XAT Verbal & Logical Reasoning

Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning is a section that tests the analytical skills of the candidates. Of the total 72 questions, candidates can expect around 24-25 question form Verbal & Logical Reasoning section. As per the past trends, the section difficulty level tends to be moderate to difficult.

XAT Decision Making

Decision Making is another key section in the XAT exam pattern and the questions are generally asked in the form of caselets. The question format generally tends to focus around decision making, in which candidates are provided with a problem and they have to pick the most viable solution for it. XAT Test-takers can expect questions in this section on topics like:

  • Arithmetic
  • Analytical Reasoning
  • Situational Decision Making

XAT General Knowledge

General Knowledge is a very vast section and covering it in its entirety is nearly impossible. Therefore, MBA aspirants have to adopt a tactical approach for handling the GK section of Paper 2 of XAT exam. The section consists of General Knowledge questions that range from both, static GK as well as current affairs or on-going events. From 2020 onwards, Essay writing has been scrapped from the exam. Therefore, candidates must focus on the GK section to earn brownie points in the Part 2 of the exam for which 15 minutes will be allotted to attempt the exam.
