UGC NET Exam Pattern 2024

The UGC NET exam pattern 2024 is set by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The exam includes two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Both papers consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs), totalling 150 questions (50 in Paper 1 and 100 in Paper 2). Candidates have three hours to complete the exam, with no separate time limits for each paper.

For a few years, the exam has been held in online mode. Hence, it is expected that this year will not be any different. The question paper will be available in English and Hindi with no negative marking for incorrect responses. Candidates are awarded marks only for correct answers. The UGC NET format was revised in 2019. Previously, Paper 1 and Paper 2 were conducted in separate sessions with individual time allocations of one hour and two hours, respectively. Now, both papers are combined into a single three-hour session. Get further information on the UGC NET exam pattern for Paper 1 and 2 below on this page.
