CTET Exam Pattern 2024

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has outlined the CTET exam pattern and marks distribution for the CTET December 2024 exam. The CTET exam has two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 covers five subjects: Child Development and Pedagogy, Language-I, Language-II, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies, and is intended for those aspiring to teach classes 1 to 5. In contrast, Paper 2 follows a slightly different pattern, featuring questions from four subjects: Child Development and Pedagogy, Language-I, Language-II, and either Mathematics and Science or Social Studies/Social Sciences. This paper is for candidates aiming to teach classes 6 to 8.

The CTET is one of the most sought after teaching exams that is held in the country two times in a year. Being a Central level examination, over 20 lakh candidates apply for it each year. Candidates planning to appear for the CTET 2024 exam should note the important aspects related to the CTET exam pattern to get familiar with the scheme and structure of the CTET question paper. CTET Exam Pattern 2024 for Paper 1

The CTET Paper 1 exam pattern includes five subjects, each contributing to the overall structure of the exam. The subjects are Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. Each subject comprises 30 questions, with each question carrying one mark, making a total of 30 marks per subject. The total number of questions in the exam is 150, accounting for 150 marks overall. Candidates are given 2.5 hours to complete the exam. Both Language I and Language II are compulsory sections of the test. There is no negative marking in this paper. CTET Exam Pattern for Paper 2

The CTET Paper 2 exam pattern 2024 consists of four sections. The subjects include Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I, and Language II, each containing 30 questions worth one mark per question with a total of 30 marks per subject. The candidates have a choice between two sections: candidates can either opt for Mathematics and Science, which has 30 questions from each subject (60 questions in total, carrying 60 marks), or Social Studies and Social Science, consisting of 60 questions for 60 marks.

In total, the exam has a total of 150 questions for 150 marks. There is no negative marking in this paper as well. The total time duration to complete the exam is 2 Hours 30 Minutes. Candidates are required to select one language as Language-I and a different language as Language-II from the options provided in the table on this page. CTET Language Code for Language Paper 1 and 2

The CTET exam has language paper 1 and 2 in Paper 1 and 2. Both Language I and Language II are mandatory sections. Questions in Language-I focus on assessing the candidate's proficiency in the medium of instruction, ensuring that they can effectively teach in the chosen language. In contrast, Language-II emphasizes elements of language, communication, and comprehension skills. It is important to note that Language-II must be different from Language-I. What is CTET Marking Scheme?

The candidates who appear for the CTET exam for Paper 1 and/or Paper 2 should note the marking scheme that is there in the exam. Candidates are awarded 1 mark for marking a correct answer. There is no negative marking in any of the papers. Candidates should use this chance to attempt all the questions in the exam. No marks is awarded for an unattempted question.
