IGNOU 2023 Exam

IGNOU admission 2023 will end on 31 March 2023. Candidates can apply for IGNOU exam by visiting the IGNOU website which is ignou.ac.in. Candidates can fill out the application form for IGNOU January session. By qualifying the IGNOU January session exam, candidates can take admission into graduation and post graduation courses.

What is IGNOU Exam?

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is the 2nd largest open university exam that is conducted in the country. It offers more than 200 distance learning programs for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the country. The exam conducted twice a year, one in January and ther other in July. A degree from IGNOU is valid worldwide and is considered equivalent to any other accredited university. 

IGNOU offers various UG, PG, Diploma, Certificate and PhD courses in various programs. The admission is based on the marks based in class 12th as well as through an entrance test depending on the course chosen by the candidates. 

In addition to providing regular distance learning courses, IGNOU also offers online distance learning (ODL) programs that is usually taken by the professionals who do not intend to attend physical classes. The registration for IGNOU is done through both online and offline mode.

IGNOU 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Admission into IGNOU is based on the eligibility criteria as per the course the candidate is willing to take. The IGNOU eligibility criteria is given below here.

IGNOU Eligibility Criteria for UG Course

Bachelor of Arts in Tourism Studies (BTS)

Class 10+2 or its equivalent or BPP from IGNOU to be eligible.

Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLIS)

Bachelor’s Degree with 50% marks for the general category and 45% for SC/ST/OBC/PH categories.

OR

Graduation with Diploma (one year) in Library Science will also be eligible OR Candidates with a graduation degree with 2 years of work experience in the Library and Information Centre will also be allowed to take admissions into the course

Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)

Class 10+2 or equivalent or BPP 

Bachelor’s Degree Programmes (BDP)-B.A./B.Com/B.Sc.

For B.A. – Candidates should have completed their 10+2 or its equivalent or BPP from IGNOU.

For B.Com – Candidates should have completed their 10+2 or its equivalent or BPP from IGNOU.

For B.Sc. – Candidates should have cleared 10+2 with science subjects or its equivalent qualification to be eligible.

Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme (BPP)

No formal education required. However, a candidate needs to be at least 18 years old. 

Bachelors of Education

At least 50% in graduation and/or post-graduation in Sciences/Commerce/Humanity/Social Sciences. Candidates with a Bachelors in Engineering or Technology with a specialisation in Mathematics and Science with 55% marks or any other equivalent qualification.

AND

Trained in-service teachers in elementary education. 

OR 

Must have completed a teacher education programme through face-to-face mode which is recognized by NCTE.

B.Sc. Nursing (Post Basic) (BScN(PB)

Class 10+2 with a Diploma of three years in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with at least two years of experience in the profession. (Male nurses or nurses who have not done midwifery in the GNM Programme should possess a certificate in any of the nursing courses of 6-9 months duration prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery).

OR

Candidates must be 10th pass or equivalent with a diploma of three years in General Nursing and Midwifery with at least five years of experience in the profession. (Male nurses or nurses who have not done midwifery in the GNM Programme should possess a certificate in any of the nursing courses of 6-9 months duration prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery).

IGNOU 2023 Application Form

IGNOU 2023 registration has to be done through online mode only by visiting the official website which is ignou.ac.in. The IGNOU registration for the January session was active from 28th December to 31st March 2023 on its website which is ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. The steps to apply for IGNOU 2023 exam are as follows: 

Steps to Fill IGNOU Registration Form 2023

  • Visit the IGNOU university admission 2023 website which is ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in
  • Click on the “Click Here for New Registration" tab that appears on your screen. 
  • Fill up all the details and then click on the “Register” tab. 
  • A user ID and password will be sent on the candidate’s registered email address and mobile number.
  • Select the programme and the study material mode from the drop down menu. 
  • Upload all the documents in the prescribed format and size. 
  • Pay the application fee through debit card, credit card, ATM card, UPI or net banking.
  • Finally, click on the "Submit" button and take a print out of the acknowledgment form. 

Documents to Upload in IGNOU 2023 Application Form

Candidates who fill up the IGNOU application form will have to upload the scanned documents in the prescribed size and format as mentioned below here. 

Pre-requisites for filling up the application form online:

  • Scanned Photograph (less than 100 KB in size)
  • Scanned Signature (less than 100 KB in size)
  • Scanned copy of Age Proof
  • Scanned copy of relevant Educational Qualification (less than 400 KB in size)
  • Scanned Copy of Experience Certificate (if any) (less than 400 KB in size)
  • Scanned Copy of Category Certificate, if SC/ST/OBC (less than 400 KB in size)
  • Scanned Copy of BPL Certificate, if Below Poverty Line(less than 400 KB in size)

IGNOU Admission Status 2023

Candidates who have successfully registered for the IGNOU 2023 exam can check the IGNOU admission status to know if their registration is successful or not. You will have to enter your login credentials in order to know your application status. IGNOU 2023 admission status will be updated a few days after registration.

IGNOU Admission Fees and Refund Policy 2023

Candidates will have to pay one time registration fee of Rs. 200 while doing registration for IGNOU 2023 exam. After the completion of the registration process, the university will charge an admission fee in the first year or first semester as per the programme chosen by the candidates. The admission fee is refundable under the following circumstances within the given time period.

IGNOU Admit Card 2023

IGNOU admit card 2023 will be issued by the university a week before the exam date. Candidates will have to login using their IGNOU 2023 enrolment number, password and programme chosen by them from the university’s website. 

The candidates must carry the printout of the IGNOU hall ticket to the exam center along with the required documents.
