SBI PO Exam Pattern 2023 

The State Bank of India conducts the SBI PO 2023 exam in three phases, Prelims, Mains and Interview to recruit candidates for the post of Probationary Officer (PO). In order to ace the SBI PO 2023 exam, it is crucial to know the latest SBI PO exam pattern. Since the competition for SBI PO exam is huge, therefore, the level of competition has also increased, thereby making it difficult to clear the exam. So, prior knowledge of SBI PO syllabus and exam pattern is important so that you can strategize your preparation for the exam. SBI PO Exam Pattern for Prelims 

The first stage of the SBI PO exam recruitment is the Preliminary exam. Every candidate who applies for the SBI PO exam has to undergo this stage. The Prelims exam qualifying in nature and its marks will not be added in the final merit list. Here are the important points to be noted for SBI PO Prelims exam:

  • The SBI PO Prelims exam consists of three stages, English, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability.
  • The total exam duration is 1 Hour where each section will be for 20 minutes. 
  • There is no sectional cut off for the SBI PO Prelims exam. 
  • The question paper carries a total of 100 objective type of questions.
  • There is a penalty of 0.25 mark for each incorrect answer marked by you in the exam. No marks will be deducted for an unattempted question.

SBI PO Mains Exam Pattern

The candidates who will qualify the Prelims exam will be asked to appear for the Mains exam. The Mains exam consists of an objective section as well as a descriptive section. This marks secured by candidates in this section will be used to prepare the merit of candidates. The major features of SBI PO Mains exam pattern are as follows: 

  • The SBI PO Mains exam will consist of four sections, Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation & General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness, and English Language.
  • All of these will be objective in nature. 
  • The total exam duration for objective test is 3 Hours. 
  • The exam duration for descriptive test is 30 minutes.
  • There will be a descriptive paper that shall be held after the completion of the objective questions on the same day. 
  • Penalty of 0.25 marks will be there for every incorrect answer marked in the exam for the objective test. No penalty is there for descriptive paper.

SBI PO Descriptive Test

The SBI PO Mains exam comes with a descriptive test that will consists of 2 questions. Candidates will have to attempt a letter writing and an essay for a duration of 30 minutes. The total marks will be 50 marks. The descriptive test is cinduicted to test the candidate's ability to express their concepts in English. SBI PO Interview

Candidates who will qualify the SBI PO Mains exam will be called to appear for the SBI PO Personal Interview (PI) and Group Discussion (GD). It is essential to qualify the SBI PO interview to eligible for final selection. The GD is for 20 marks while the interview is for 30 marks. 

SBI PO Final Selection

The final selection of candidates will be done on the basis of the marks secured by the candidates in Mains and Interview. According to the number of vacancies available and final SBI PO cut off marks, a merit list will be drawn of the candidates who will be recommended for appointment as SBI PO.
