The  Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Engineering Services Examination or ESE each year to recruit dynamic engineers in various government departments of India. The UPSC ESE recruitment is held for the Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics and Telecommunications engineering disciplines. UPSC ESE 2025 Notification 

The UPSC ESE 2025 notification has been released by the UPSC for a total of 232 vacancies. The candidates can apply for the UPSC ESE 2025 from 18th September to 8th October 2024. Intersted and eligible canddiayts can apply online for the exam in the given time duration. 

This engineering exam will be held in three stages, Prelims, Mains and Interview. The candidates who will qualify the exam will be able to join the UPSC ESE/IES. They will be responsible for overseeing both technical and administrative operations in several domains.

UPSC ESE 2025 Exam Date

The UPSC has released the UPSC ESE exam date 2025 on its website along with the notification. The apply online date is from 18 September to 8 October 2024. The candidates who apply successfully for the UPSC ESE 2025 exam will be able to appear for the Prelims exam on 9 February 2025. The exam date for the Mains will be released after the completion of the Prelims exam. 

How Many Vacancies are there for UPSC ESE 2025?

As per the UPSC ESE notification, a total of 232 vacancies have been released for Group A services n various departments of the government. Out of the total number of vacancies, 12 are for the PwBD candidates. Candidates who are from Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering branches are eligible to apply for the exam. How to Apply Online for UPSC ESE 2025? 

Candidates who are planning to appear for the UPSC ESE 2025 exam can follow the given steps to apply online for the USPC ESE 2025. 

• Go to the official UPSC site at upsconline.nic.in. 
• On the homepage, you will find the link that displays, "ONE TIME REGISTRATION (OTR) FOR EXAMINATIONS OF UPSC AND ONLINE APPLICATION". Click on it 

• Register yourself for the exam. Once the registration is done, you will receive the registration ID and password. 
• Once this is received, go back to upsconline.nic.in and click on "ONLINE RECRUITMENT APPLICATION (ORA) FOR VARIOUS RECRUITMENT POSTS". 

• Login using the registration id and password to complete the online form fill up. 

• Enter all the required details in the UPSC ESE application form 2025. 
• Upload the required documents. 
• Pay the application fee. 
• Lastly, take a print out of the application form for future reference. 

UPSC ESE Application Fee 2025

The candidates who apply for the UPSC ESE 2025 recruitment have to pay the application fee either through online mode or through cash. You must note that the candidates who select “Pay by cash” mode option have to pay by 7th October 2024 by 11:59 PM. The fee is Rs. 200 for the General make candidates. Other candidates are exempted from paying the fee. 

UPSC ESE 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who are willing to apply for the UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2025 must fulfil the eligibility criteria prescribed by the Commission. The candidates should have a full-time B.E/B.Tech degree in either Civil/Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and must be between the age of 21 years to 30 years. UPSC ESE Nationality 2025

To be eligible for UPSC ESE 2025, the candidate must be either:

(a) a citizen of India, or

(b) a subject of Nepal, or

(c) a subject of Bhutan, or

(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or

(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently setting in India.

Candidates should have a valid document or certificate as a proof of nationality issued by the concerned authorities of Govt. Of India.

UPSC ESE Selection Process 2025

The selection of the candidates in the UPSC ESE shall be done through the following stages: 

• Prelims Exam (500 Marks) – Offline
• Mains Exam (600 Marks) – Offline
• Personality Test/Interview (200 Marks)

• Medical Examination

The candidates who are aspiring to join the UPSC Engineering Services Examination should ensure that they are aware of the ESE exam pattern. The Prelims exam is objective in nature while the Mains is conventional in nature. Given below is the paper pattern for Prelims and Mains exam: 

UPSC ESE Prelims Exam Pattern 2025

The UPSC ESE Prelims Exam is composed of two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2 consisting of a total of 500 marks. Paper 1 will have questions on General Studies & Engineering Aptitude and Paper 2 will contain the questions on specific discipline subjects. UPSC ESE Mains Exam Pattern 2025

Candidates who qualify for the prelims exam will be eligible to appear for the mains examination. The UPSC ESE Mains Exam has two papers carrying 300 marks each that are descriptive in nature. Each paper is for 3 Hours for 600 marks in total.  Check the table below.
