The Punjab State Council of Educational Research and Training has announced the Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test (PSTET) 2024 for recruiting teachers in both Primary and Upper Primary sections in government-sponsored schools across the state. The online registration for PSTET 2024 has started from October 16, 2024, through the official website which is /pstet.pseb.ac.in. The candidates who are interested and meet the eligibility criteria for teaching positions in Classes I-V or VI-VIII, can now apply online for the exam. The PSTET 2024 exam shall be held on December 1, 2024.

Steps to Fill the PSTET 2024 Application Form

To apply for PSTET 2024, follow the steps below:

1. Visit the official website pstet.pseb.ac.in/.
2. Select the "New Registration and Applicant Login" option on the homepage.
3. Click on the registration link to register. You will be redirected to a new page.
4. Enter your details and click "Register Me" to receive your login credentials.
5. Log in with the credentials provided and complete the form by entering personal details such as name and email ID.
6. Upload your signature and photo.
7. Make the payment for the registration fee.
8. Once all details are complete, click on "Submit."

Educational Qualifications for PSTET Paper 1 (Primary Teachers)

Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications to apply for teaching in Classes I to V:

• Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
• Graduation with at least 50% marks and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), with a mandatory six-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education within two years of appointment as a primary teacher.

PSTET Exam Educational Qualifications for Paper 2 (Upper Primary Teachers)

Candidates seeking to teach Classes VI to VIII must meet one of the following qualifications:

• Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
• Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
• Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year B.Ed, following NCTE norms.
• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
• Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year B.Ed (Special Education).
• Any candidate with a qualified B.Ed recognized by NCTE can apply for the TET exam.

PSTET 2024 Exam Pattern

The PSTET 2024 exam consists of two papers. Candidates applying for the role of primary teacher (Classes I-V) should take Paper 1, while those applying for upper primary teaching positions (Classes VI-VIII) should take Paper 2. Below is the detailed exam pattern for both papers.

PSTET 2024 Exam Pattern for Paper 1

This paper consists of five subjects, and each section contains 30 questions worth 1 mark each. The total marks for Paper 1 is 150.

Paper 2 consists of compulsory and optional sections, depending on the subject specialization. Like Paper 1, each question carries 1 mark.
