WBCS Notification 2024
The West Bengal Public Service Commission released the West Bengal Public Service Commission released the WBCS notification 2023 on February 26, 2023. The Commission did not release the vacancies for the exam.
The WBCS 2024 notification has not been released though. The Commission might release the WBCS 2024 notification after it has conducted the 2023 cycle Prelims exam on 16th December 2024.
WBCS Eligibility Criteria 2024
Candidates who wish to apply for the WBCS exam should ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria. The eligibility is composed of fulfilling the educational qualification, age limit that are given below in the table.

WBCS Physical Standard Requirement
The candidates who are applying for the West Bengal Police Service (Group ‘B’ Service) have to meet the following given physical requirements. The minimum height of the candidates for WB Police service is 1.65 metres for male candidates and 1.50 metres for female candidates subject to relaxation in the case of candidates belonging to races such as Gorkhas, Garwalis, Assamese Tribals etc. Candidates intending to be considered for this group must indicate their height in the appropriate column of the application form.
WBCS Selection Process 2024
The WBPSC WBCS Selection Process is stated in the official notification which is released by the WBPSC. The selection process for WBCS Recruitment involves the following stages:
Stage 1: WBPSC WBCS Prelims
The WBCS preliminary examination consists of 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), with each question carrying 1 mark, making a total of 200 marks. The exam is bilingual, available in both English and Bengali, and covers subjects like General Science, Indian History, and Current Events. The duration of the exam is 2.5 hours. It is a screening test for the Main Examination, and the scores obtained in the Prelims do not count towards the final selection.
Stage 2: WBPSC WBCS Mains
The WBCS Main Examination consists of six compulsory papers. Four of these papers are MCQ-based, and two are written, each carrying 200 marks. Candidates in Groups A and B are required to choose an optional subject, which consists of two papers with a total of 400 marks. The examination is conducted in both English and Bengali, with each paper having a duration of 3 hours. There is also negative marking, although the specific penalty has not been disclosed.
Stage 3: WBCS Personality Test
The WBCS Personality Test evaluates candidates based on their general interests, skills, and the qualities necessary for the post. It assesses the candidate’s suitability for the role, with different marks assigned based on the group: 200 marks for Group A and B, 150 marks for Group C, and 100 marks for Group D. This test aims to evaluate the overall personality and fitness of the candidates for the role.
